This morning The Girl began a week of two-a-days for swim team. That means they have a morning practice and still have the afternoon practice like a regular day.
The morning practice began at 5:30 AM! That was early! It was still dark. And a little cold. And the doors to the pool were still locked, but not for long.
So to use my time wisely, seeing as this was HER practice but I have to get her there, I decided to use the time she was in the pool to walk my hour or so at the HS track. Luckily Dear Friend Kelly felt inclined to join me, since I was picking up her swim son for the practice too.
We walked for an hour and fifteen minutes, chatting the whole time. It has been a while since I have walked with a friend--the iPod gives me something to listen to but is not a satisfactory substitute for friendly therapy. It was great to chat and catch up and get the exercise done firs thing this morning--and I mean, first thing. I was just getting light when we headed back to the pool to help with the little breakfast station the team mom and coach set up.
The advantage then to starting the day so early is that I have got laundry already to the mid-point and I'm ready to head to the grocery store, etc. It gives me a good jump on the day.
The downside is I may well fall asleep this afternoon if I even think about sitting down to finish my book. I'll see how fat I get today.
