I am Happy to be Wrong

Thursdays are usually crazy and depressing. But I happy to tell you that yesterday was not a normal Thursday.

My PTA meeting was done in 50 minutes! And we covered everything we needed to cover.

And the best part was that Tammy was having a really good day. I am not sure if the change was the new meds, or the more recent treatments with a "cough machine". Her voice was stronger than it has been for months. She was very lucid and clear minded. She stayed awake and carried on full conversations all afternoon.

The "cough machine" is essentially a vacuum that removes the mucus in her throat. It blows a big puff of air into her lungs, then sucks it out quickly with quite a bit of pressure, from the looks of it. With that sucking process comes the mucus that she no longer can spit out or swallow or cough up. I think it is making a huge difference for her voice.

The drug change from last week keeps the levels of medications more steady for a longer time than the old ones. And the new pain killer, rather than an increased dosage of morphine, is another type with stronger and longer lasting effects. I believe that is helping her awakeness and her lucidity and her general comfort.

It was so much more pleasant to see her in a better mood and certainly felt better seeing her more comfortable. Sure made for a better mental day for me too. I am glad to be surprised in her condition. I only hope that it continues for her sake.
