Words to Fit the Season

Did you know that there are certain words that aptly apply in weather like we are having lately?  I especially appreciate these seasonal word when I'm at work and stand up from my black uphostered chair only to discover tha tI have several of these:

SWACK= sweaty back
SWOOBS=sweaty boobs
SWOTCH=sweaty crotch
SWECK=sweaty neck
SWITS=sweaty pits

Now that you know these words too, you might recognize them when the weather gets to hovering around 100 for about a week.

You're welcome.

Cousins of Summer

Holy cow!  Yesterday happened so fast!  I missed a post.

The weekend of July 4th we had a special family get together to celebrate Father's Day with our Grandpa Herb.  Since he and Grandmama divorced several years ago we plan to do his birthday and Father's Day with him in the "off season" so he can spend those actual dates with his girls. But he is still Grandpa to our kids, so we try to keep up with all this recognitions and celebrations we can and include him in our family events too.

Maddix was here to celebrate with Grandpa Herb, as his mommy and daddy were at the hsspital with new born Baby Aaron.  Maddix "helped" unwrap a few presents for Grandpa Herb.

He is a cute, funny kid--but has so much energy...he made me tired just watching him that day.

Meanwhile, the girl cousins (and Auntie Brenda) were vegging out on the couch, enjoying that the boys were all downstairs.

Nice face, McKay!

We love our cousins--and I'm so grateful my kids and their cousins love each other.  It isn't always like that.  And I know what a blessing it can be.

Ups and Downs

Friday after work I was able to run away with some friends for a girls weekend retreat.  It was so needed.  These same ladies served in the Stake YW presidency together and I truly miss seeing them now that we are all released and serving elsewhere.

We stayed at Miss T's family's condo at Zermatt Resort in Midway, Utah-- a little touristy place with darling Swiss architecture to echo the surrounding village.  We played games, watched movies, ate too much and just enjoyed being together.

Saturday evening two of the ladies had to go, but Miss T graciously offered Miss Amy and I an extra night before we headed down the canyon and back to reality.  It sounded like a wonderful idea.

Miss Amy and I headed into the village to a little grocery store to pick up something we could eat for dinner.  She opted for something sensible that could be heated in the microwave   But I discovered the grocery store still had their salad bar, so I chose that.  It looked really good, and even tasted good--the first time.

Yep, that' right.  Sunday morning I woke up to a sick feeling in my stomach that began about 6 hours of throwing up.  I don't remember the last time I threw up, much less this long!  But Miss Amy was a tremendous help and got us packed up and out of there and then she drove me down the canyon and got me home where I then drifted in an out of sleep until about 3 PM.  I was running a low grade fever most of the day as well, so the sleep was a welcome relief.

About 8:30 or so, I had Genius Golfer call the neighbor and see if anyone was there that could help him give me a blessing.  I was happily surprised when our dear neighbor brought his just-ordained-that-day son, Riley, with him and instructed Riley how to do an anointing before the blessing.  Riley leaves for basic training this week, so he was a brand new, out of the box, Elder.

Following the blessing, i headed back to bed and slept the rest of the night.  When the alarm went off this morning, I feel much better, with only a slight headache hanging on from yesterday's events.  Oh, and my muscles on either side of my torso are very tender from all the heaving.  But I feel much better than I did this time yesterday.

So, the weekend fun was curtailed by the day of sick.  But I still wouldn't trade the escape.  I just own't eat at the salad bar again.
