On The Other Hand

Since news was shared in our community Thursday night about the young woman from our high school who took her life, there has been quite a dark cloud hanging over the school and the hearts of the students generally.  But, the State Swim Championship went on, and were had many things to celebrate there.

The Girl ended up finishing 20th in her 200 IM and the girls' 4x100 relay team finished 16th.  The boys' team did much better.  Their 4x50 tied for 3rd!  Our swim friend Nate is a double state individual champ--in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke!  New swim friend, Aaron, a transfer student from Oregon, finished 4th in the 200 free and 3rd in the 100 freestyle.  Other swim friend, Christian, finished 11th in the 100 fly and 15th in the backstroke. And the boys' 4x100 relay finished 5th.  Great weekend to see what good  our kids are doing.

The Wrestling team from our high school also had a pretty great week.  They had a what they called a "Divisional" tourney.  We had 20 boys qualify for their State tournament, which begins tomorrow.  They are in place for a Three-peat as state champions as a team.  There are many, many athletes on this team doing things to celebrate.

And also this week, our performing arts department opened the production of Beauty and the Beast on Friday.  It runs through this coming Saturday. There are dozens of kids acting and singing on stage, and playing in the orchestra as well as the dozen or so more students that work backstage and on the technical side of the production.  It is such a cute show!

It is nice to see the good win out.  Maybe the cloud will be lifting soon.  I can hope.
