Last night was the final home game for the football players who are seniors. The school made a presentation to each of them--there were a lot, maybe a dozen or more. Looks like next season might be a little re-building effort.
Here's the cool thing, though, I learned as I walked home with The Boy's former flag-football coach. Eight of these senior boys have scholarships to Division 1 schools to play college football. Eight! That is more in one graduating class than our high school has seen ever, combined!
Too bad they lost in overtime, by a field goal. Still, they've made the playoffs, and maybe our four starters that have been out for two weeks--including our QB who is headed to Standford--or so will be well enough to play again. This was just a bummer way to end the regular season for these kids.
