Bummed, Unexpectedly

The Girl had a swim lesson scheduled this morning with Coach BJ--formerly known (prior to his mission) as "Pool Boy". He is delightful and had taught my kids swim lessons for a long time. This set of lessons was for competitive tricks and techniques. The Girl will still be swimming as school starts because she joined the HS team. (Yeah for that!)

Anyway, today was the first in the set. She is sharing the lesson (to make it a little more affordable than 'private') with Mr. T. Mr. T is also a 9th grader swimming on the HS team this year. He is in our ward and this summer had grown so much that he looks like a swimming machine. His mom is Dear Friend Kelly.

We all gathered to the pool this morning to get this lesson going and before we could even get to the pool the sign on the door said, "POOL CLOSED". The water level was dangerously low. Like three feet low. It is nuts.

The pool--for all that I love about it--seems to be managed by punks. I mean, they are quite young--not that age is the only qualification, but I think that full thought processing would be helpful here. And I never see the same people in charge at the same time. It always seems to be someone different directing the activity of the pool staff. And those who are working do much more chatting that work. Maybe it's me.

Well, the lesson was scrapped today. And I was bummed. I wish there was some way to swim all the time, and not have to deal with these kind of disappointments. Yes, I was going to swim too--our synchronized swim performance is supposed to be tonight at the Swim Team Party. And I finally had a song to go with our routine...fully cheesy and very 80s! If we do it at all, I'll have Genius Golfer video tape it and them I'll try to get it posted here. Then, you'll see why I was bummed--we need the practice!

Me too. And I was once one of the idiot kids that run the "city" pools. We rented the lost and found stuff and made a fortune. With the money we usually ate at some fancy restaurant, or had "pool parties" after hours. The worst one was when 3 watermelon got thrown in the pool and they made us clean the whole pool with toothbrushes as punishment. (Maybe I'm going through "payback" for past deeds!?!?)
