Have you ever tried these?
The inside goodness looks like this:
Those little rye chips? Heaven!!
There must be some kind of trace element--more addictive than heroin--that covers every little piece. Man, these are so good. And it is worse for me when the jar sits here on my computer desk, tempting me at every keystroke.

Just Say "NO"
It is that time of year again. I mean, Girl Scout Cookie time. YIKES! I know, it is so hard to avert your eyes, much less your taste buds.
Having many opportunities to sell delicious yummy things as a child as part of a fund-raising program for something or other, I can relate to the girls trying to make their troop some money. Having eaten more than my fair share of GS cookies each year for the past several years, I can relate to the niche these girls have in the market. But, to set these girls loose on us, worn down as we will be by this winter-time blues, is just evil.
My personal favorite is the Tagalongs, and I prefer them frozen. Oooh. They are de-lish. The thin mints are pretty dang good too, especially with some ice cream. The others, while I'm sure they are good too, but it is hard to compete with those dang peanut butter and chocolate mint ones, in my opinion.
Once the little scout-lettes deliver the pre-ordered ones, they will suddenly show up at my favorite grocery store, selling the boxes of temptations right outside the store. Dangit. That means I'll have to avert my eyes, make a mad dash and ignore these cute little girls and their moms and leaders on my way back to the car. And that is just rude.
Wish me luck. And really, it makes me wonder what makes these little delectable treats so addictive...I'm sure it is legal. But is it not nice.

Let her eat CAKE!
Today I write before you as a proud 39 year old, with the remaining creaminess of butter cream frosting on my lips. May I just sing the praises of a cake that I don't make?!
The Girl's birthday cake was a couple days after her actual birthday due to the whole Girls' Camp event, but nonetheless we had a family cake from our friends at the bakery at the local Macey's. It is my favorite treat in the whole world. It is exquisite in its simplicity and delicious in every other way. Understand that I am not the big ice cream eater in our family (that would easily be The Boy and Genius Golfer), I do love a good piece of cake.
My personal favorite, and as the appointed shopper for the family the sole vote in the decision, is a white cake with raspberry filling covered in a butter cream frosting, with any design you can imagine on the top. It is just that easy to put me into a shortening and sugar induced coma of sorts. It is creamy and sugary and just divine.
This week's representation is as follows:
I understand that this type of treat, on a regular basis, would certainly hurt my chances at some sort of steady blood sugar, but since there are only 4 in the family that we celebrate with this kind of cake, I figure I'm as safe as the next guy. Now let me eat my cake in pieces. This piece first, then that piece.
