Hit the Road

We are home to the Family Light Show Extravaganza again this year. With any luck, we'll have a video of the ordeal, I mean, show very soon and I'll post it here for all of you to endure, er, witness.

I was worried that our neighbors will get together to vote us out of the Circle, but when I spoke with several they were very enthusiastic about the road being busier, their driveways being blocked and the lights flashing in their windows. Maybe they were just being polite.

What is funny is how long it seemed to take last year and the relatively short time Genius Golfer got it all back up this year. He reminded me that he had no job last year so he had time to build the arches and wire the trees and put together the radio system. I had forgotten that part.

So, if you are in the area and are looking for a free activity with the kiddos--they don't even have to leave the car--come on over. This is great for the 8 PM bedtime set...a sleepy ride in their footie pajamas to see the lights while they sit in their car seats in the warm car.

We are looking forward to entertaining you for Christmas, at least, for about nine minutes before it repeats.

Report from the Trenches

Genius Golfer's Light Show Extravaganza ended New Year's Eve night. So yesterday the family took the donations over to friends, Rick and Tammy. They didn't know that this was the purpose behind the light show--them! Rick's cousin and her hubby had video taped it for us so we gave a DVD copy of the light show to them so Tammy could see it. They were surprised to say the least. On the way home from their place, I asked The Boy about the whole process. "It felt good to do something nice for them, Mom." Mission accomplished.

Today, the final Christmas remnants will come down. I leave the Christmas cards, pictures, and newsletters up until the last day of Christmas vacation. I love to look at the bright colored cards, shiny, smiling faces in the photos and recall all the friends and family behind the newsletters as I sit in the dining room each day for dinner, or work in the kitchen, or loiter aimlessly before going, again, to the Gas 'nSip.

I finished the TV TShirt Quilt yesterday. I sewed all the Tshirts together and then backed them with fleece and then top stitched each of the Tshirt seams to strengthen it. No batting this time at all. the fleece makes it high statically charged though. I hadn't thought of that. But it just the right size to curl up under to watch yet another British costume drama from the BBC and/or PBS's Masterpiece Theater.

Music, Lights, ACTION!

Guest poster, Genius Golfer, has a grand announcement:

With all of the time on my hands recently, I've been putting it to good use. Last year The Boy and I decided to hit the after Christmas sale at WalMart and a few other stores and purchase a bunch of lights and some Christmas trees. We finally got most of the lights up and have everything hooked up and sequenced to music. He did one of the songs (Amazing Grace -Techno) sequenced to lights and music and did a good job. Last night was the first night that the show was running. The light show runs continuously from 5:30 pm until 11:00 pm on Friday/Saturdays and 5:30pm until 10:00 pm on the other days of the week.

We did get a few donations to help out our friends Rick & Tammy. Tammy was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in March of 2007 and she was given 2 to 5 years to live. She has already lost all movement except for being able to hold her head up while laying in a bed 24/7. She has been amazing to watch and Rick has done a good job too being home most of the time to take care of her and their three daughters.

We would love for each of you and your families to come and see the show if you can. Please pass this on to your family and friends. We want to get as many people out to see the show.

You can visit our web site (http://www.camdebuck.com/) for more information. It's still a work in progress and there is more information that I would like to put on it. This whole project has taking a lot more time than I thought it would take (and anyone who knows me, knows that everything takes 5 minutes to complete). I'm hoping to launch a new website in the next few days, but we'll see how that goes.

We are located at the following address: 318 North 300 West (mapquest will return 318 Allenhurst which is correct as well), Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.

Happy Holidays to everyone.
