Check Up? Check!

I had my annual physical yesterday morning.  Not my favorite thing, but once I do it, I feel like I can breathe easier for another year.  Plus, my doctor had told me that I can now go three years until my next pap smear.  But yesterday was that three year mark.  Yikes.  But, now I'm done with that little piece of nasty for another three years.

The crazy thing about yesterday's check up was that the office had me give them a urine sample.  Now, the giving the sample was not a problem.  Peeing happens to be one of my finest talents.  But in the initial check of said sample the doctor said there was an increased white blood cell count in it.  He asked if I had been having symptoms of a bladder infection: lower abdominal pains, lower back pain, increased urgency to pee or a burning sensation when I do.  Nope.  Not a single one...well, that urgency bit was true enough, but he reassured me that if I have always had the need to pee then this probably wasn't a new symptom to worry about.

I went fasting so they could draw my blood and do all the magical things that blood will tell them about my health. But that white blood cell count in the urine kept nagging me.

I guess whatever it is--and I told him my body seems to prefer sinus infections to all others--is still better than increased sugars in the urine.  At least diabetes is not the worry I have after this check up.  Though that hangs in my mind too.  I figure I am as genetically predisposed to that as I am to heart disease.  So why not?!

The "nice" doctor reminded me that my last mammogram was last October, so now I get to "look forward to that".  Oh.  Right.  There goes the breathing easier.
