Maybe 1983?
That is as big as I can get my hair...but it is a little reminiscent of Sheena Easton, maybe. But the shirt with the sweater and the broach...Molly Ringwald (a la Pretty in Pink) inspired there....and the pegged pants? Absolutely. And check those shoes...vintage Reebok Princess aerobic sneakers.
The "Save Ferris" dance was hilarious. I think the chaperones had more fun than the kids, to be honest. The music was the best part...that, and commenting, Peanut Gallery style, on what the kids were wearing. But here is a sample:
So many looked like they walked right out of a Jane Fonda exercise video...only they didn't realize that we only wore stuff like that when we did aerobics. I saw a few (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) Jeff Spicoli disciples in faded jeans and surfer shirts. There were plenty of Flashdance followers too. As chaperones we got a kick out of the "real" outifts we saw. For one thing, the guys would NEVER have been wearing the Jane-Fonda-spandex outifts we saw...unless they were playing really gay and already 'out'. But the kids today didn't see that line--but they certainly crossed it.
It was a fun night, and I'm really grateful Genius Golfer could help me out by chaperoning the first half--though he didn't dress up. We had a great crew of parents to help and a bunch of very entertaining kids to watch.

This post was hilarious and awesome! I wore a few of those Jane Fonda workout leotards myself! But only to the stake center to do aerobics! What a crack up they wore them to the dance ~ and a few boys in them?!? definitely hilarious :) And you my dear look awesome! Very Molly Ringwald. I'm tempted to come see your see for myself! Love it.
