Choosing Your Battles

Last night The Girl took action on a decision I chose not to fight.  In fact, I ended up helping her accomplish her goal--mostly so my kitchen didn't get wrecked.

Here was her plan:

It was supposed to be a bit darker BLUE, as that is her high school color. The purpose was a little team spirit for the Region Championship Swim meet this weekend.

I figured, "Hey, it's only hair...and she is planning cutting much of the damaged hair (from the swimming all year) off after the region meet."  So, what did it matter?  Really?

We bleached the bottom portion of her hair and then dyed it blue. It was a messy process, but she seemed happy with it.  From the looks of it, it may not last the weekend in it's bluest form, but that is OK too.  She was pleased, and it gives her a point of team captain/leadership/team spirit for this important swim meet.  It really isn't that different from all the sharpie-created fish "tatts" for the summer season championships.

Another lesson in "Pick your battles and win the war" with teenagers, I suppose.
