A Memorable Memorial Day

I spent the morning yesterday getting an updated Tetanus shot. Clever, and necessary, but why on a holiday? you may ask.

Before 8 AM yesterday morning I had already stepped on a rusty nail in the backyard in a small pile of old fence pieces that had broken up and that I have asked The Boy to pick up a month or so ago. Obviously he didn't do it.

So, grumbling to myself, I set out to clean up the crapola that he has ignored me asking him to move and throw away. In my flip flops.

I remind the kids anytime they are out doing this sort of work not to wear their flip flops for just this reason. What is that old saying? "If you can't be a good example, be a good warning"?

I felt absolutely stupid having to check in at the Instacare clinic--at $40 a pop--for a new tetanus shot, having forgotten when I had my last one. I hate that these good medical people had to work because I was dumb. When I mentioned that to the Physician's Assistant, he told me not to worry and that they made time and a half for working the holiday. So now I am good for a few more years, hopefully in a precautionary way.

It is a new memory for Memorial Day, in any case.
