DST Ramble

Daylight Saving Time used to begin later in the year and ended earlier, didn't it? It seems quite early to switch today. The first week of the the switch is always the worst anyway, so maybe I'll see the benefit next week.

I do like that they switch us on a Sunday, and that today I do not have a 7 AM Pioneer Trek planning meeting. That would have been really harsh. 9 AM church is enough to feel the effect.

On the up side, I do like DST when we are eating dinner in the full sunshine and the kids can play outside (when school is out) until 9 PM. That comes along in June, however, and that is still a bit to wait for the good stuff.

It is difficult to appreciate DST when there is snow on the grass outside my front door too. DST is a sign of summer, or spring at the least. But the crocus that has survived is up and proudly showing us its purple plumage, the renown harbinger of spring.
Maybe DST, like the crocus, is early this year for my sake. Any more dreary wintry, cold gray days and I might go nuts. I'll take it and by next week I will be thrilled about it.
